Training
Every Tuesday 7:45pm - 9:15pm during the winter league at Shine Sports Ground, Henleaze

What to Expect
We kick things off pitch-side with 30 minutes of fitness to get the legs moving, then head onto the astro for skills, drills, and a bit of friendly competitive spirit.
Coaching this year is led by a great mix of our captain, senior players, and a very welcome new addition, volunteer coach Sam!
Sam's a seasoned hockey player himself and a fully qualified umpire, so he knows the rules inside out, yes, including which side of the stick you're actually allowed to hit the ball with!
It all adds up to a great mix of getting match-ready and sharpening your game, in a fun, supportive environment where nobody minds if your first pass goes astray.
What to bring
No need to worry about kitting yourself out before your first session, here's what we'd suggest wearing and bringing along.
-
Casual kit is absolutely fine to start with — no need to arrive looking like a pro
-
Shin pads and a gum shield are recommended to keep the important bits protected
-
No stick? No problem — you're welcome to borrow one for your first few sessions
Building up your own kit -When you're ready to invest in your own gear, here's what to look for:
-
Stick — sized to reach roughly your hip. There's no such thing as a left-handed stick, everyone plays right-handed on the pitch, whichever hand you write with
-
Mouthguard — essential for protecting your teeth and jaw from flying balls and sticks
-
Shin guards — hard guards covering your lower shins and ankles, with long socks worn over the top to keep them in place
-
Footwear — turf shoes or multi-stud trainers for grip on artificial pitches; running shoes with flat soles are best avoided
-
Clothing — comfortable sports kit that lets you move freely: a sports top with a skort, shorts, or skort-leggings
-
Left-hand glove (optional) — a thin padded glove that protects your knuckles when stopping the ball or tackling on the turf
-
Kit bag (optional) — a stick bag or sturdy backpack to keep it all together
