About Us

Bristol Ladies Hockey Club has been bringing women's hockey to North Bristol since the 1990s. Back then, the club ran three teams, trained at Failand, and operated with a pretty ruthless selection process, cliques, power struggles, and all the drama that comes with it.

A lot has changed since then.

Today we're a single-squad club, and we think that's something to be proud of. We're competitive, we work hard, and we're always looking to improve, but we do it together, with a genuine team spirit that's hard to find elsewhere.

A club shaped by its people

Clubs like ours don't survive three decades by accident.
They survive because of people who pour themselves into them; players who become coaches, umpires, organisers, and the kind of people who host cheese and wine evenings and hot tub socials just to keep the team together off the pitch.

A thank you to Linda Prosser

We recently said a heartfelt (though not final!) farewell to our coach, Linda, who has dedicated 30 years to this club as a player, coach, umpire, and goalkeeper. Her message to us was simple, but it perfectly captured our philosophy.

focus on the fun, celebrate individual achievement and remember that what you put into a club, it gives back tenfold.

That spirit lives on in everything we do

A group of young women in white sports uniforms on a blue hockey field, celebrating after a game with joyful expressions, some kneeling and others standing, surrounded by coaching staff and equipment.
A woman sitting on grass after a race, holding ice and smiling. She wears a white athletic shirt, white knee-high socks, pink and blue running shoes, a headscarf, and shorts. There are backpacks and water bottles around her.
